Property Manager - Part Time

St Mary?s College is one of the oldest existing schools in New Zealand, founded in 1850. It has an amazing history and sits on a beautiful elevated site in Thorndon, with the heritage-listed Gabriel Hall pride of place at its centre.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced property professional to oversee and carry out caretaking and property management. Reporting to the Business Manager and being supported by the Groundskeeeping and Facilities Assistant, responsibilities include: 

  • managing the safety, presentation, maintenance and general condition of the property and grounds

  • managing property-related issues and projects

  • arranging quotes and managing contractors 

  • assisting with property budget management and planning.

This is a permanent part time position working 30 hours per week, 45 weeks per year, with occasional call outs. Hours will need to complement the Groundskeeping and Facilities Assistant to provide overall coverage across the day. Occasional backup for the Assistant will also be required.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • practical experience in property and grounds maintenance

  • a passion for the good presentation and security of the school

  • clear understanding of maintenance and compliance requirements

  • excellent written and oral communication skills

  • ability to work both independently and in a team environment

  • basic financial management experience

  • comfortable working within a Catholic College environment.

Full driver licence is essential. Salary is as per School Caretakers', Cleaners' and Canteen Staff Collective Agreement.
