Senior Accountant/Financial Controller – Maternity Contract

  • 8 ½ month fixed term contract starting mid-May

Our client has more than 20 years' experience manufacturing and selling a wide range of specialty and general cleaning products B2B in NZ and overseas.  Their success is based on quality products, innovation, customer service excellence and sound financial management.  As well as that, they have a great culture, and a passionate team who care about their work, customers, community and the environment.

Due to the patter of tiny feet, we have a fixed term opportunity for a talented Senior Accountant/Financial Controller – someone who has worked in a small to medium sized business, and has extensive commercial experience.  The role has an accounting focus, but also provides variety with involvement in human resources and IT issues and projects as you'd expect in a business of this size.

.The heart of the role involves:-

  • Preparing monthly and year end accounts through to filing taxation return stage on one major and several minor entities
  • Providing proactive reporting, financial analysis and commentary to the management and sales teams
  • Preparing GST, PAYE, Kiwi Saver and Provisional/Terminal Tax payments
  • Monthly payroll and oversight of weekly payroll
  • Leading and managing a small accounts team, comprising one AR and one AP person
  • Working with external HR and IT consultants to ensure the smooth running of these areas of the business

Are you the one?

Do you love analysis and thinking 3 steps ahead? Do you have extensive commercial experience in a similar role in a small – medium sized business?  Do you have experience in New Zealand GST, PAYE, Kiwi Saver and Tax?   If so, this role could be perfect for you!! 

As well as the qualities above, we are also looking for:-

  • A team player, who loves coaching and getting the best out of others
  • Great communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts and results to non-accountants
  • A self-starter with the ability to multi-task, and keep a number of projects on the boil simultaneously
  • Superb attention to detail, and the ability to spot an anomaly at 50 paces
  • A "can do" attitude
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are essential.  Experience with SAP B1 would be a definite advantage as would relevant tertiary study and qualifications.
