Harvey Cameron Group Limited

About the business and the role

Would you call yourself a GOOD Accountant? Are you relatively accurate, reasonably efficient, and capable of producing work of a passable standard? And, most importantly, would you describe yourself as normal?

Then unfortunately this role is not for you.

We're looking for a GREAT Management Accountant to join a tight-knit team responsible for running the financial systems of the South Island's largest communications group. That team takes pride in being different than your standard 'Accountant-types', playing an integral role in not only the day-to-day financial operations of the business, but also in the vibrant internal culture of the Harvey Cameron Group.

Job tasks and responsibilities

As part of our Finance Department you'll play an important role in the Harvey Cameron Group's strategic planning, arming the Management Team with the accurate, relevant and timely reports and analysis they need to make informed decisions.

You'll be fully engaged in our business operations, implementing and maintaining sound business practices which support both our daily operations, and our future growth. Of course, you'll perform all the usual key transactional tasks of a Finance Department to a high standard, displaying accuracy and attention to detail in everything you do. Those tasks include debtor invoicing & collections, complex buyer created creditors reconciliations & payments, balance sheet reconciliations, monthly and ad-hoc reporting and meeting various compliance regulations.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate will…

  • Possess excellent communication skills that help translate reports and requirements into practical outputs and processes for the rest of our business teams.
  • Be a proven whizz at learning to understand and respond to the operational requirements of all departments in our group, and have the ability to use and manage complex accounting and reporting systems to meet those needs.
  • Be a detail-orientated and organised thinker who is excellent at prioritising and multi-tasking.
  • Enjoy a mixture of routine responsibilities and ad-hoc, self-identified project work.
  • Bring a 'can do' attitude to every task.

The requirements…

  • 3+ years relevant corporate accounting experience and an appropriate tertiary qualification.
  • Strong working knowledge of NZ accounting, tax legislation & GAAP.
  • Intermediate excel skill

Job benefits and perks

The opportunities…

You'll be part of a team dedicated to delivering excellent service to both our internal and external stakeholders by working collaboratively and creatively, and by utilising each member's unique skills.  We have a fun, social and supportive working environment and expect every team member to contribute to that in a positive way.

Our business is part of a fast-paced and evolving industry, and opportunities to extend your skills and experience are there for the taking.

If you want to be part of our team, we'd love to hear from you. ('Average' candidates need not apply).
