Financial Reporting Manager - contract

12 month contract - central Christchurch location, A high profile corporate that will add value to your CV, Locally recognised as a fast moving business with a unique operational model.

The Opportunity

Work closely with and learn from a highly experienced GM of Finance within a high profile corporate that will add value to your CV, overall employability, and technical CPD.

At the end of the 12 month contract, a potential permanent operationally/commercially focused accounting role could be on offer at the end of the assignment.

The Company

South Island business with a strong hold on their part of the market.

Locally recognised as a fast moving business with a unique and successful operational model, they are an employer who are large enough to offer development and promotion but not so large that the company and the people change regularly.

The role

You will be responsible for all technical accounting and external reporting aspects of the Group finance function, including management of the audit process, production of annual and quarterly reporting for the board, Group's parent company and consolidated financial statements.

You will also support the Group Financial Controller in project work, including the enhancement of reporting capabilities, technical accounting projects and ad hoc work.

  • Management of year end statutory accounts process for the Group including review of all consolidated and parent statutory accounts
  • Management of the Group's audit process from end to end and ensure that the interim and year end audit processes are conducted efficiently in adherence to tight deadlines
  • Tracking of Group management letter points
  • Production and enhancement of quarterly and annual reporting presentations
  • Development and on-going management of reporting around debt covenants
  • Preparation and review of technical accounting memos and discussion papers for management
  • Development, maintenance and improvement of Group accounting policies
  • Assess and take actions following investigations into internal accounting and external reporting implications of new and amended standards
  • Overall supervision and management of technical accounting projects for the Group
  • Monthly’s , quarterly, annual Tax and treasury

Your Profile

  • The ideal candidate will be a Big  trained, qualified accountant with post-qualification experience within a high profile business or group reporting department
  • Experience of consolidations and listed group reporting are essential
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge and experience of IFRS and general standards are pre-requisites of the role
  • Any Tax experience is highly desirable
  • The successful candidate will be a proactive and confident self-starter with excellent analytical and communication skills
  • A strong team player, they will be able to manage and motivate a team to deliver to a consistently high standard
  • An availability to start the 12 month contract within a 4-6 week period is essential
