The company

Furnz specialise in the design and fit out of hospitality projects in the South Pacific. The long established company offers full turnkey services to the hotel, restaurant and bar industries and is a trade supplier to high quality commercial projects in both New Zealand and the South Pacific. The contemporary Furnz open plan offices are located in Newmarket in Auckland. The incumbent trusted accountant/office manager is moving on after 12 years of service because she wants a change from full time employment and this has created an excellent opportunity for the right candidate.

The position

The position is a good mix of responsibilities and this will ensure there is both challenge and responsibility. The company uses an independent accounting company for annual accounts and overall accounting management, but the job will require a sound knowledge of accounting processes and related environment. High competence in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and familiarization with Work Flo Max and Xero/MYOB will be an advantage. There is an expectation of monthly accounts being prepared to a detailed level for the businesses.

About you

We expect that you will come from a senior accounts or administration management position and have excellent grasp of all accounting functions. Naturally you will also have excellent written/oral skills and sound organisational and planning skills. You will pride yourself on your interpersonal skills and have an outstanding customer service approach.

This is a busy job and you must have a 'can do' attitude and be self motivated with an ability to efficiently manage your own time whilst remaining a trustworthy team player. You must also have a good knowledge of financial policies and accounting procedures. Naturally, you will have accurate data entry skills.

Ideally, you may have some background with interior design and its associated product elements, and understood the implications of a business that runs in different countries and currencies. No formal qualifications are required but may be of advantage.
