Lunch only!, Excellent food, Friendly team.

Head Chef/Café Manager

This is an opportunity to lead a team passionate about great food and service, have creative freedom with the menu and get to work family friendly hours serving breakfast and lunch with the occasional evening function.

The busy Untouched World Native Garden Café is a 60 seater café attached to our flagship clothing retail store. Open seven days, 362 days a year. The style of service is that of a relaxed cafe/bistro with an innovative blackboard menu and table service but also with a focus on really excellent coffee.

Our philosophy is to be as ethical and sustainable as we can, sourcing fresh products from our local suppliers, organic where possible. Our menus are crafted with health and wellbeing in mind with no compromise on flavour and served with great style in a warm and relaxed atmosphere by friendly staff. We are looking for someone with flair, talent and exceptional culinary skills, who is able to keep us at a consistently high level. This is a great role for someone looking to make a name for themselves in the local food scene and to take a great step in their career progression.

The cafe has an exceptionally stable team with a great spirit and a customer focused work ethic. We are looking for a team leader who will fit in well with the team, lead by example and create an enjoyable working environment. Great people skills and excellent communication is a must, as is being able to work well under pressure and the ability to handle the stresses of a busy service with ease. Efficient management, organisational and administration skills are also essential.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for creation and service of exceptional food
  • Exceptional, balanced menu writing skills
  • A strong interest in baking
  • An interest in healthy, organic food
  • Experience in a similar role for at least 3 years
  • Knowledge and expertise in menu planning, cost control and staff management
  • The ability to work harmoniously leading a small team
  • The ability to work calmly and well under pressure and in an organised manner
  • A love for looking after our guests and achieving a high sense of customer satisfaction

This is a full time role. You will be required to work a roster including both weekdays and weekend days and be available to work evening functions from time to time so some flexibility is required.

To apply for this role you MUST be a NZ Citizen, NZ permanent resident or have the right to legally work in New Zealand. Please do not apply if you do not meet the above criteria.
