Are you a great communicator?, Are you interesting in telling the story of Wellington's future?, Join us for an 8 to 12-month fixed-term contract.

We are looking for an individual to join us for an 8 to 12-month fixed-term contract.

You'll need an absolutely positively strategic, agile mind as well as great writing, communication, relationship, and engagement skills to help shape the future of Wellington city.

Wellington City Council is one of New Zealand's major metropolitan local authorities with 1500 staff and an annual expenditure of around $400 million. We play a key role in supporting the economy, environment, and quality of life in Wellington city. We're here to help make Wellington the best place to live, work, and do business.

Currently the city is in the midst of positive and exciting change - with a growing economy, a new mayor, new appointments across the executive management team and a refreshed vision and priorities for the city. Such changes mean our organisation is focused on putting our community at the forefront of what we seek to deliver.

The Strategic Communications team has an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual as a Communications & Engagement Advisor to cover maternity leave.

You will work on a variety of council functional areas, and be based in an energetic team focused on innovation and collaboration. We're looking for a passionate person who enjoys a challenge, puts the customer first, strives to keep learning and developing new skills, and is ready to contribute to telling Wellington's story across relevant channels.

The work of the Communications and Engagement team is influential in:

  • Developing and maintaining a resilient reputation for Wellington City Council and Wellington city
  • Adding value to internal business units to deliver their services and achieve desired outcomes
  • Promoting and advocating for best practice engagement between the Council and our communities

A job description is available for further details.

Applications close on Monday, 17 July 2017.

We're looking for people who share our passion for Wellington and have the same values that we do - to make our city an even better place to live and work.
