The Service Quality branch helps ensure the quality of business operations across the Market Services group remains high by guiding and supporting business readiness and consistency of operations. The branch supports the development and implementation of operational business planning, delivery of technical training programmes, assurance around transformation activities and operational processes, and provides regional support across MBIE.

This branch will be critical to ensuring business readiness and consistency of operations. In particular, this new role is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the MBIE safety and security strategy across Market Services, Immigration New Zealand and other Groups within MBIE.

This exceptional opportunity is to ensure the organisation is well equipped and operationalises health, safety and security activities and related risk management practices. You will ensure that the Group's activities are working in accordance with MBIE's policies, standards and procedures for health, safety and security.

This position will also provide a National Communications Centre capability to support our operational and deployed front line staff.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to join a new team, giving you the opportunity to influence and build the role from the very start.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An appropriate tertiary health and safety, security or emergency related qualification or extensive and comparable relevant experience
  • Previous leadership experience leading a safety, security or business continuity related function in a large complex organisation
  • Wide ranging knowledge of practices to relating to business process change, health, safety and security, operational risk management
  • Proven leadership skills including demonstrated ability to engage and motivate staff and an ability to build a strong high performing team in a complex organisation
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships
