About the role:

Our regional practice advisor is a key role and is a critical quality practice link for Oranga Tamariki, integral to strengthening practice across regional and national levels. Although based in the regions the role is part of the Office of the Social Worker-Director Professional Practice team. This role provides high quality and consistent professional practice advice to the Manager Regional Practice that supports practitioners and managers to achieve good outcomes for children and young people. The role is to build professional practice capability across the broader children's workforce and provide a pivotal link to the regional managers and the regions making sure quality practice is a continuous focus for the whole organisation. The Regional Practice Advisor provides leadership and direction on social work/ professional practice at regional and national levels. This includes leading the development and implementation of new practices and ways of working across Oranga Tamariki; promoting quality practice, continuous improvement and learning in social work and professional practice; monitoring international and national trends in research. For this particular role we need a qualified social worker who brings a background in Care and Protection social work with an essential knowledge of youth justice.

Skills and experience:

You will be professionally qualified in social work and social work registered (or working towards registration), with significant experience in frontline social work and professional practice. You will be a strong communicator both written and verbal with the ability to deliver messages to a wide range of audiences. You will provide professional leadership, influence and direction to maintain and enhance practice excellence and capability. Your experience will include championing quality practice and providing advice and support to lift standards across your region. This will include supporting the roll out and communications around quality practice and professional development for the organisation across your region.
