This is opportunity is with a well-established 4-partner chartered accounting firm based in the Newmarket/Parnell area.  The practice has a long history in the SME segment and has maintained steady staff levels for many years.

Over the years the firm has established a reputation for low staff turnover and high employee satisfaction rates. The opportunity has arisen for an articulate individual with good work ethics to join this friendly and supportive team.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant with a minimum of 3-4 years current experience in all aspect of business services.

Your solid hands-on experience in preparation of financial statements, management accounts and tax returns will ensure you will meet the essential technical requirements for this role. The role is client-facing and works closely alongside the partners in the firm.

The successful candidate will work with some of the firm's larger and more complex SME clients operating across various industries including property, investment, construction, retail, manufacturing and others.

This role is varied and hard to define in a brief summary. However some of the aspects of the role will include:

  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Monthly/management reporting
  • Tax compliance (filing various tax returns such as Income Tax, GST, PAYE, FBT etc.)
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Advising and assisting clients with various systems issues/training/trouble shooting, etc
  • Participating in value-add advisory projects involving business valuations, forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis and others

If you are CA qualified the firm offers all the support for your continued professional development that one would expect from a reputable and well-established professional services firm.

If you are qualified by experience (and are not planning on achieving CA qualifications), the firm still has a lot to offer you in terms of technically challenging work and exposure to interesting compliance and non-compliance work (such as corporate finance, business recovery and insolvency).

Strong computer skills and good working knowledge of Xero and MYOB AO are essential. Previous FIF experience would be a plus although is not a strict requirement.

The firm's culture can best be described as friendly and positive with periodic team events, morning tea and various other activities.

The partners are approachable and down-to-earth. This opportunity is likely to appeal to a balanced individual looking for a stable, family-like environment. This is a permanent, full-time role although the firm offers a degree of flexibility around work hours and an early finish on Fridays.

If location is important to you, this opportunity is likely to appeal to you if you find the Parnell/Newmarket area convenient.
