We are a family-owned investment and management company comprising several entities including high growth operating companies. Based in Auckland, with operations in Cambridge and Christchurch the business is focused on developing high performance animal genetics and breeding programs for the farming industry.

As the Management Accountant, you will be an integral part of our operations. We envisage a strategic thinker who can work alongside the team to add value by providing analysis to drive down costs, maximise efficiencies and expand our operations over time.

Currently we have a small focused team who possess a culture of excellence and care coupled with a sharp commercial focus. There is little bureaucracy so you will have the ability to work largely autonomously but also close to the owners and leaders of group operating companies. The exact design of this role is subject to discussion but comes with enormous flexibility;?initially part time with room for growth.

Responsibilities will include

  • Business partnering, working alongside operational teams
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Monthly reporting including sales, margin reporting and variance analysis
  • Weekly and monthly dashboard and KPI reporting (including labour, productivity, yield and quality analysis)
  • Cash Manager Accounting system data entry and processing?
  • Inter-company accounting and reconciliations
  • Tax compliance and statutory filing, including GST, tax etc
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Monthly invoicing
  • Liaising with accounting firm preparing annual accounts and preform any adjustments required
  • Fixed Asset Register management
  • Insurance schedules management
  • Cash investment and term loan schedules
  • Basic ad hoc project assessment/ analysis
  • Other general administrative duties, including some light building/ property administration.

This role will form a core part of our business so requires someone who is commercially astute, passionate about excellence and has the soft skills to influence and educate operations to drive success. You will be inquisitive and bring your leadership skills to take everyone on this journey of excellence.

You will need a relevant degree and/or industry experience; you may be a CA or CIMA qualified and have at least 3-7+ years' experience within a commercial environment. Relevant industry experience could be from: manufacturing, FMCG, construction, utilities, agriculture, construction or property. We are interested in any industry that gives you an understanding of costing.
