PGG Wrightson Limited (PGW) is a leading provider to the agricultural sector offering a wide range of products, services and solutions to growers, farmers and processors in New Zealand and internationally. With employee numbers exceeding 2300, PGW is one of New Zealand's largest employers and has a complex and extensive payroll that needs careful management to ensure delivery - without fail. To ensure this level of delivery, we are looking for a talented and capable payroll leader to join the Group Human Resources Team. Interested?

Reporting to the General Manager Human Resources and leading a team of payroll professionals in Christchurch and Dunedin, the Payroll Manager takes overall accountability for the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant remuneration payments to all PGW employees across New Zealand and Australia. In doing this, the Payroll Manager will:

  • Develop a payroll strategy and annual operating plan that aligns with the overall strategy of the Group People function and PGW as a whole;
  • Implement the payroll strategies and plans; positively and effectively leading all necessary changes;
  • Provide leadership across PGW in all payroll matters, ensuring compliance and identifying and mitigating risks as required;
  • Lead payroll process and operational excellence; ensuring appropriate controls are in place and all systems and processes are effective and efficient;
  • Provide advice supported by robust analysis of payroll metrics to PGW leaders in support of business decisions;
  • Actively guide and coach members of the payroll team to ensure achievement of individual and team objectives.

This is a key role within a fundamental business function that requires a comprehensive understanding of payroll operational excellence, payroll risks and mitigation strategies and relevant legislation - all combined with the capability and motivation to provide leadership to the team and across the business.
