Job tasks and responsibilities

1. ? Ensures clients and associated brands are positioned for market growth

  • Work internally and with the clients/ brands to develop a public relations strategy for each brand which reinforces the brand's strategy and supports the marketing/events calendar.? Take views across all brands were appropriate to ensure the right brand is matched with the right opportunity.
  • Implement PR and Communications strategies as directed by the client were relevant, modifying and tailoring to ensure relevance and success in New Zealand Market.
  • Maintain strong relations with the media proactively pitching stories, and securing editorial coverage.
  • Work with the client to develop a strategy for a presence in social and digital media and actively implement the PR component of this strategy.? Proactively guide and educate the brands in developments in this area and their potential.

2.?? Manages operational effectiveness

  • Work alongside the DARKHORSE management team to manage all aspects of both the PR and events were relevant which includes everything from planning and invitations through to venue, catering, hosting the event and a thorough post event debrief and report.
  • Work within and manage the PR & Events budget given for each Brand/Project.
  • Provide assistance and act as liaison to outside groups such as charities, sponsorship events and community organizations, as needed.
  • Present on PR/Event Activities and on behalf of DARKHORSE as required.

3.?? Improves business processes

  • Develop creative story angle/ideas to generate press for the brands beyond product and event mentions.? Endeavor to generate features stories to create and maintain awareness across all categories, particularly those of strategic significance.
  • As a member of the DARKHORSE team, contribute to the strategic direction and operational management of the business and clients.
  • Proactively monitor and measure editorial coverage of brands against relevant competitors.

Skills and experience


  • A tertiary qualification in Public Relations or Communications is strongly preferred.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in an intermediate to senior level Public Relations or Communications role
  • Proven experience in writing and editing effective copy
  • Proven experience in developing media strategies and project execution
