The Job

This position, Assistant Accountant reports into the Financial Controller and is responsible for undertaking accounting activities for Queenstown and Wanaka Airports. Your duties will include accounts receivable, reconciliations, journals and the provision of financial reporting. You will provide accounting support to a number of divisions across both airports so good communication and relationship building skills are equally as important as your technical accounting capability.

You will have involvement with a number of internal stakeholders including the CEO and CFO, the wider management team, and staff.  With over 700 people working in and around the airports you will also have involvement with a number of external stakeholders including debtors, the bank prospective tenants and leaseholders at the airports. So this will be a role in which you will find yourself in demand requiring you to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels both in writing and face to face.

Duties

? Calculate, create and process invoices and credit notes using in-house financial system

? Ensure accurate reconciliation of the debtors ledger with the sub ledger

? Oversee timely payment of leases, recoveries and other revenue items

? Oversee and maintain tenant turnover reporting and required reconciliation

? Prepare monthly debtors report and aged debtors for the board

? Manage all aspects of credit control and ensure debts are cleared in a timely manner

? Perform credit checks with new and existing customers

? Prepare monthly financial performance reporting/ variance between forecast & budgets

? Preparation of detailed budgets and forecasts for various business units

? Seek opportunities for business improvement around processes, reporting and systems

Skills

? Relevant accounting or finance qualification

? Minimum of three years' experience in a similar role

? Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practises
