Accounts Assistant, Enjoy a busy but friendly work environment, Based in Timaru.

The Opportunity

An experienced and focused Accounts Assistant is needed to join this well-established business in one of the national branches to be based in Timaru.

Autonomous onsite Accounts Assistant role, working closely with the Finance team in Christchurch, you will be responsible for handling the branch?s accounts and administrative functions, which will be varied and include a broad range of transactional accounting and administration work.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for a sole charge role and enjoys a mix of accounts and administration functions.

The Role

This will be a varied role that includes;

  • Administering the Accounts Payable system to capture all supplier information, including processing and payment of invoices and attending to supplier queries
  • Compile an accurate weekly accounts receivable exposure report and invoices
  • Administer and maintain the Accounts Receivable system for the company?s subsidiary business including invoice creation and analysis
  • Maintain the companies? bank reconciliations, including entering of cash receipts and applying the receipts against invoices
  • Provide assistance as required with month end management reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations and Fixed Asset schedules
  • Provide assistance with other ?one-off? tasks as required, such as cost analysis, variances to budget, GST returns
  • Financial administration tasks, including maintaining the finance department filing system and collating fortnightly payroll information for payroll processing.
  • Responsible for the day to day running of the office

Your Profile

  • 2+ years? experience working in an Accounts Assistant or similar role
  • A tertiary qualification is preferred but not essential
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, ideally with advanced Excel capabilities (preferred)
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems including general ledger and accounts payable
  • Participation with others in creating a team environment that fosters and develops effective working relationships and high performance
