The Education Council is the professional body for teachers from early childhood education through primary and secondary schooling in English and Mori medium schools. We support the profession to meet the high expectations it has set itself. We enhance the public's confidence in the teaching profession, speaking out on its behalf.

This newly created role reporting directly to the CFO, presents an opportunity for a proven (3 years PQE) management accountant to join a small team charged with improving the maturity of management reporting across the Council. You'll be experienced in forecasting, budget processes, writing reports and delivering high quality to various stakeholders. You'll know what good practices look like and have the skills and acumen to embed these through a management team to sharpen their toolkit and organisational outcomes. Your ability to interpret the numbers and align the non-financial with the financial will be welcomed, along with your ability to identify trends and patterns, noting where these sit relative to policies and accepted practices.

The team is collaborative and you'll be at ease being the sole MA within a tight group.

We are located in the heart of the CBD. We are social, support professional development, and provide onsite facilities if you're active.

To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate:

  • A confident, highly skilled and experienced Management Accountant.
  • Maturity and influence, balanced with the ability to listen to what the business is needing to achieve
  • An enquiring, analytical mind who doesn't settle for face value
  • A methodical, systematic approach cyclical activity
  • Ability to working effectively in a diverse workplace with strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi.
