The Role:

We are seeking applications from an experienced Dry Dock Master, Dry Dock Operator or someone with relevant skills who could train as our next Dry Dock Master

The Dry Dock Master is responsible for the day-to-day running of the South Island's only dry dock, and key elements of the role include:

  • Ensuring compliance to all Health and Safety requirements
  • Understanding the specifications of the LPC Dry Dock and the vessel, including vessel stability at all stages of the dry dock process and understanding the limitations around acceptable draught.
  • Ensuring that the correct processes are in place around the ship's supports, scaffolding and any other service systems being used.
  • A sound knowledge of the dry dock particulars including the electrical power supply, crane lifting capacities, and fire fighting provisions.
  • Understanding and implementing the environmental safety practices.
  • Working closely with external stakeholders, and ensuring that they are compliant with LPC's policies.
  • Manage and prioritise the needs of the Dry Dock customers
  • Lead and manage internal staff and contractors working in the Dry DockAbout You:
  • To be successful in this role you will have proven experience in the ship building/repair industry. You will be looking to take the next step in your career and ultimately seeking a role where you are the manager responsible for the day-to-day operation of our Dry Dock.
