The Pegasus Health 24 Hour Surgery (24HS), a division of Pegasus Health, is committed to providing a high quality, 24 hour urgent medical and accident care to the people of Christchurch from its site on 401 Madras Street.

About the Role

The Clinical Director is responsible for the professional clinical performance and management of the medical workforce operating at the 24HS. Through leadership, planning and service development, the Clinical Director ensures effective clinical and service excellence for patients requiring urgent accident or medical care. The Clinical Director has a close working relationship with all 24HS staff, and forms part of the 24HS senior leadership team, along with the Clinical Nursing Leader and the Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the delivery of clinical excellence to patients presenting to 24HS
  • Leadership and support in clinical service performance
  • Medical workforce recruitment and retention
  • In conjunction with the leadership team lead the development: of the 24HS strategic plan and translate that into operational plans and the 24HS model of care
  • Lead the clinical complaints and incidents process
  • Maintaining effective relationships with GPs, ED and Specialist Hospital colleagues.
  • Understand the necessity for 24HS to operate as a viable and financially solvent business, demonstrate leadership and solution focused actions in conjunction with the leadership team
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Pegasus Health (Charitable) Ltd, and the ability and the desire to uphold these principles

Skills and Experience

  • Must be RNZCUC vocationally registered
  • Proven leadership ability in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills with in the Urgent Care environment
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Current Medical Protection
  • Current ACLS
  • Understand and be committed to continuous quality improvement
  • Commitment to, and the ability to implement organisational change
  • Ability establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ability to demonstrate sound judgment at a senior leadership level
  • Demonstrate experience in clinical governance and in clinical risk management
