Leadership role leading Context Architects' South Island practice, Support of a progressive national practice, Long term prospects. Share in the success of the business.

Context Architects is looking for a Christchurch architectural leader to be our South Island Principal working out of our innovation precinct studio.

The primary objective of the South Island Principal is to lead our current 10-strong South Island team and carve out an identity and reputation for Context in the South.

Principals engage teams to be on the bus, hold the key client relationships, and ensure teams deliver to high standards.

The South Island Principal works closely with the board, MD and North Island Principal team to develop and execute the business plan.

Strategic planning is a key part of the role, aligning South Island business targets and strategies with the business plan.

The Principal requires a thorough knowledge of the market and industry, and the solutions and services the practice can provide.

They embrace Context's brand proposition 'Tomorrow's Calling' and use innovation and new technologies to drive the architectural design process and enrich the client experience.

The Principal works at the strategicfront end with clients, helping with the thinking around their property and design strategies.

They have the support of a larger practice and corporate functions such as an IT and alternative reality digital team, finance team, and a business development, marketing and PR team function to support them.

About you:

You will be a natural architecturalleader who aligns with our practice's values and is looking to step into aleadership role with a national focus.

You will believe that good architecture is fundamentally about lifting people's lives through the power of design. You will have a background that validates this.

You embrace the digital world and all the possibilities that opens up to engage clients in the design process.

You will have a natural antipathy towards hierarchical thinking and privilege, and by nature, treat people as you would like to be treated.

Experience and attributes required:

  • NZ Registered Architect of 8years+ with proven design and delivery experience across multi-faceted programs
  • In-depth understanding of the property sector and its commercial drivers
  • Led and managed architectural project teams
  • Managed clients,projects,financials andresources to deliver projects successfully with strong design and financial return outcomes
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Proven client relationship management experience
  • Public speaker
  • Proven track record in business development
  • Great communication skills paired with the ability to speak to a wide-range of stakeholders
