The Client

This company is one of the largest specialists within the insurance industry, with a global presence in 18 markets. They offer a wide range of products through a valued network of partners.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager - Reporting & Analysis, the key purpose of the role is to provide timely and accurate financial information to internal and external users in accordance with the Company’s and the Group’s policies and procedures and statutory requirements. Also be required to support other finance team functions as required. You will also have 1 Direct Report.

Your key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Ensure compliance with local reporting and the Groups reporting requirements.
  • Prepare assigned month-end / quarter-end journals and reports which covers IFRS, LSTAT, ANW, EC EBS reporting basis or review.
  • Support Reporting & Analysis team to meet month-end / quarter-end / year-end deadlines.
  • Prepare interim and year-end financial statement and collaborate with internal and external parties to ensure deliverables are completed on time.
  • Prepare or review quarterly, half- yearly, yearly IFRS disclosure templates or reports and submit to Group office.
  • Responsible for regular management & expense report, analysis, monitoring and control as required.
  • Responsible for reviewing RBNZ deliverables and ensure this is submitted on a timely basis.
  • Use initiatives to drive continuous improvement to maximise process efficiencies.
  • Provide other ad hoc internal and external reporting of financial information as required
  • Identify and communicate meaningful business insights to improve business outcomes.
  • Assist other finance and business functions as required

You, the Ideal Candidate

My client is looking for someone who has the ability to work independently, with a high level of motivation and energy that enables a self starter approach. You will have to be deadline oriented, have the ability to work with a diverse array of people, and build successful working relationships.

To be considered for this role, you will also need the following technical competencies;

  • CA, CPA or equivalent qualified
  • Financial service industry knowledge and experience (preferred but not essential)
  • NZ IFRS knowledge and experience
  • Proven track record of delivering timely and accurate financial information and reports
  • Familiarity with NZ taxation regime
  • Experience in a similar senior accountant position
  • Experience with staff management, direct or indirect
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft software knowledge is essential.
  • Advanced software knowledge - SAP (Advantageous)
